Oakland Pride Parade + Festival

While Pride Month is generally considered June, Oakland LGBTQ+ Pride Events are scheduled for September with fun events for the whole family.

Fairyland Family Fun September 9 + 10

Children’s Fairyland is bringing a very joyful, creative, colorful, and family-friendly 🏳️‍🌈 PRIDE 🏳️‍🌈 celebration to the park on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10. Partnering and partying with some fabulous community organizations – the Oakland LGBTQ Center, Our Family Coalition, and Out and About Bookshop – this Pride weekend will be the best one yet! Find a variety of events for the LGBTQ+ community and allies.

The admission price is $16.
Hours: 10 am to 4 pm.

Saturday, September 9

On Saturday and Sunday come to Fairyland during the daytime for face painting, games, a pop-up bookshop featuring LGBTQ+ literature for kids, along with the always-special attractions of stories and rides.

Pride family fun kicks off with face painting, games from 11 am to 3 pm, and a dazzling Drag Story Hour with Per Sia and Vera at the Emerald City Stage on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.! 

FairyProud Pride Night is an adults-only celebration at Fairyland on Saturday from 6 to 10 pm for $35 each. Tickets include drinks. FairyProud transforms the park into a cascade of queer magic boasting DJs, dancing, beer, wine, food trucks, Drag performers, an art walk, a marketplace, and a whole lot of PRIDE! Sunday, September 10, Oakland Pride Parade and Festival

Oakland Pride is here! Who is ready to party? On Sunday, September 10, join your friends in Downtown Oakland for the Pride Parade and Festival before returning to Fairyland for the afternoon.

11 am to noon: Annual Oakland Pride Parade down Broadway from 14th Street to 21st Street. Free to attend!

Noon to 6 pm: Oakland Pride Festival and Celebration.

Sunday activities at Children’s Fairyland include games, a noon Storytime read-aloud of “No One Owns the Colors”, and Magician Blake Maxam on the Emerald City Stage at 1:30 pm. Out and About Bookshop, a mobile bookstore connecting kids and families with LGBTQIA+ stories, will be at the park all day for your book collection “level up” needs! Plus a visit from the Oakland Public Library, and Verizon with a STEM activity and giveaways!

Location, Logistics, and Things to know about Oakland Pride

  • The parade starts at 10:30 am at Broadway & 14th St. and finishes at Broadway and 21st. It is FREE to watch.
  • The festival starts at noon and goes until 6 pm. The main entrance is at Broadway and 20th. Admission is $20/adults, $10/children (12-18), free under 12.
  • Parking? No way! Take BART and get off at either 12th St. or the 19th St. Station. Once you walk out, you won’t be able to miss it.
  • Our Family Coalition will be shuttling families back to Fairyland for its Family Garden event. Register here >
