My boys and I recently checked out the new Ultimate Zone at the Peek-a-Boo Factory in Livermore. And I know that’s far, but sometimes a change of scenery is a nice way to shake things up a bit. Plus, if they play hard enough, maybe they’ll nap on the way home AND transfer. Ha. I kid.
It took us about 50 minutes to get there in mid-afternoon traffic. There is a free parking lot right outside, and before we knew it, we were walking into the fun. My kids were full of energy after the car ride and immediately made a beeline for the three-story, fully padded jungle gym, packed with tunnels to crawl through, obstacles to climb, speedy slides, and plenty of room to run. The slides were incredibly fast and so much fun, they played chase up and down the structure over and over again. Once they had thoroughly explored the front play structure, we made our way to the back of the facility to check out the newly opened Ultimate Zone.
The Ultimate Zone is a new addition to Peek-a-Boo Factory in Livermore. Located in a separate room behind the original play space, it’s unlike any indoor playground I’ve ever visited. With exciting new attractions in every direction, my kids didn’t know where to start. Thanks to my own curiosity (and childhood nostalgia), I steered them toward the Super Mario wall first. This attraction filled my ’90s kid heart with so much joy! While my four-year-olds aren’t very familiar with Mario, they still had a blast riding the moving blocks across the course and racing each other to see who could finish the fastest.
Other highlights in the Ultimate Zone included the interactive ball pit which featured a second level with a cannon feature. A second Mario wall, this one was equally as cool but had more of a rockwall vibe and a height requirement of 42″, but my kids under 42″ did desperately want to try it out.
The two-story timed ninja course was another huge hit. My kids love anything that lets them race and compete against each other, so the timed challenges kept them coming back for “just one more round.” They loved trying to beat their own times as much as they enjoyed trying to beat each other.
When they were ready for a break from all the climbing and racing, we headed over to the Sports Zone. The interactive basketball and soccer games were just as impressive as the obstacle courses. My four-year-olds didn’t quite understand the rules or challenges, but that didn’t stop them from shooting baskets and scoring goals.
The ultimate highlight for my oldest was the elevated ropes course, perched high above all the other attractions. After getting fitted with a helmet and harness, he climbed, balanced, and made his way across four different obstacle elements.
One note for parents: the child who went before him got a little overwhelmed halfway through the course, and his dad had to climb up and help him back down. So if your child is on the fence about heights or isn’t quite sure they’re ready for this daredevil adventure, be prepared, you might end up making the climb, too.

Bottom Line
Yes, it’s a bit of a drive, and I don’t usually travel this far for an indoor play space. But this isn’t your typical indoor playground. The Ultimate Zone is packed with unique attractions that you won’t find anywhere else, and I’d happily make the trip again.
What really sets Peek-a-Boo Factory apart is that it appeals to a wide range of ages. My oldest can get bored at traditional indoor play spaces after 30 minutes or so, but here he found plenty of exciting challenges. Meanwhile, my younger kids were just as entertained with age-appropriate activities.
One thing to keep in mind if you’re visiting with multiple children is that the Ultimate Zone is located in a separate room from the original play structure. If your kids want to split up, it can be difficult for one adult to keep an eye on everyone at the same time.
That said, if your kids love to climb, race, explore, and burn off energy, Peek-a-Boo Factory is well worth the drive.
