This beautiful event, along with all of their holiday offerings at the cemetery, are canceled for 2021.
It doesn’t sound very cheerful, the idea of strolling through a cemetery, but East Bay families have been enjoying Piedmont’s Holiday Circle of Lights for twelve years now. The year-round popular destination for stroller walks offers a festive light display that is easy to access for the entire month of December. In fact, you don’t even have to get out of the car if you don’t want to.
Piedmont Avenue ends at the entrance to the Mountain View Cemetery. There is a paved roundabout with a water feature in the center. Holiday lights and figurines are circling the area, and the building, which is the funeral home, is decked out as well. It is a lovely SHORT walk for toddlers and completely accessible to strollers and wheelchairs.
This is a short outing and can be paired with a casual dinner on Piedmont Ave or in Rockridge, just a few blocks away. There is no charge for admission.
Mountain View Cemetery is located at 5000 Piedmont Avenue Oakland, CA
