A good half-hour North of Berkeley, San Rafael offers weather that makes stripping down and jumping in the pool more tolerable. Reader Cori Kesler of Berkeley reccommended this half-day trip for East Bay families.
The Marinwood Aquatic Center is open to the public and offers a large swimming pool for everyone, plus a tot pool for kids under seven. Cori’s 11-year old son and his friend passed the lifeguard’s swim test, earning them access to waterslides that dump into the large pool.
Admission for non-residents is $6 for kids; $7 for adults. Babies under 12 months are free.
