The miniature trains operated by Golden Gate Live Steamers in Tilden Park are worth a visit. If you follow the path of the Tilden Park Steam Trains down the hill past the engine, you will be rewarded with a treasure trove of goodies for the miniature train enthusiast (and by that I mean either “lover of small trains” or “small train lover”).
Each Sunday between Memorial Day and the end of September, the Golden Gate Live Steamers open their tracks to the public for rides. It’s super fun. Fees are by suggested donation.
Immediately after this photo was taken, my barely 3YO was moved behind me to rebalance the load, so I was a little nervous the whole time. Babies in arms are not allowed. Otherwise, super fun!
There is an adjacent souvenir stand with train tchotchkes and the story of the miniature railroad.
