San Ramon Indoor Play Space: Kidplex

Kidplex is a modern open play space filled with interactive, imaginative, and physical activities suitable for children 12 and under. Located at the San Ramon City Center Bishop Ranch, Kidplex is a fun-filled location where kids can burn off extra energy and engage in interactive play.

Kidplex features a mid-sized play space of approximately 3,500 square feet. Each section of the play space is designed with intention. We were impressed by the many play options they have without making the space feel cramped. All the spaces were also well organized and clean. Kidplex’s activities include:

  • Ball pits: several ball pits — one with air-suction tubing, another with a ball cannon, and a smaller ball pit in the infant area.
  • Movement activities: a fun slide with interactive projection images, “tea-cup” spinners, and ride-along vehicles.
  • Imaginative play activities: play doctor station, grocery center, diner cart, and ice cream truck.
  • Dramatic play area: armoire filled with play clothes.
  • Tabletop activities: stacking block table and digital coloring station.
  • Infant space: padded floors, infant ball pit, climbing center, magnetic board with magnets and gears.

I visited with my 1-year-old and 7-year-old on a rainy day and we spent 2 fun-filled hours at the play center. My 1-year old was obsessed with the pretend play area — particularly with stocking the pretend kitchen, pushing around the shopping cart for supplies, and serving items at the “Kidplex diner.”

The ball pit with the air suctioning piping and spaceship ball drop was a big hit with both kids and the adults.

It’s rare to find a spot that entertains both of my children because of their age differences. I was worried that my 7-year-old would be bored, but she loved the larger ball pit with the ball cannons where she could shoot at an interactive gaming wall. A large metal slide that comes down from the ball pit area was also a house favorite.

She equally enjoyed the digital coloring station that brought her drawings to life on a projection on the wall.

We can’t wait to go back! We only wish they had operating hours earlier in the day so we have more play time before nap time.

Based on the location of this play space, it can be an all-day affair. You’ll find plenty of shopping, eating, and drinking (coffee!) opportunities to check out with the family. There’s also a central courtyard with Adirondack chairs and large foam construction blocks for children to play.
