Each year, a parcel of snow shows up in North Berkeley and enables local kids to play in it. Bring boots and mittens to Shattuck Avenue between Rose and Vine Streets in Berkeley on Sunday, December 8, 10Â am-3 pm. (Santa drops the snow from his sleigh in the early morning hours as he flies over town.)
A Snow Queen listens to children’s wishes and gives them a small surprise.
Other attractions include live ponies, free crafts for kids, a balloon twister, plus a variety of local art, craft, and artisan food vendors.
Raffle ticket event: Find the ‘ice’ in a snowball – one has a real diamond ring inside! – donated by M. Lowe & Co. as a benefit for the Berkeley Schools.
Refreshments will be provided by Safeway, GoGo SqueeZ and KIND Bars. (I’ll personally be picking up latkes from Saul’s to take home for later.)
This is a free event for children of all ages sponsored by the North Shattuck Association in conjunction with M. Lowe & Co., Safeway, State Farm Insurance, ToyCycle, Buy Local Berkeley, Spokes, 510Families, East Bay Express, Berkeley Community Media, and East Bay Loop.
Where: 6 blocks north of the Downtown Berkeley BART station. Free street parking on Sundays. Free valet stroller and bike parking by Spokes.
When: Sunday, December 8, 2019, 10 am-3 pm.

Does anyone know if this is happening again this year (2023)?
Erin, I don’t think so.
