Did you know that Vallejo’s Six Flags Discovery Kingdom now offers exclusively scare-free Halloween fun for families? My four-year-old, who is Halloween-apprehensive, and I spent the afternoon exploring, and here’s what you need to know.

Tricks and Treats has these spooky-ish fun activities
From September 19 – November 1, head to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for Tricks and Treats, a family-friendly Halloween event held on weekends. This parkwide event runs all day and has completely replaced the after-hours scare experience of Fright Fest.
This year, kids can expect a visit to the Trick-or-Treat Trail, seasonal shows and games, a hay maze, and crafts. Trick-or-Treat Trail at Seaside Junction features six treat stations. Visit the first house to receive a bag for collecting candy, then knock on each door along the trail to receive some more treats.
My son had a great time riding the rides and exploring the Halloween festivities. Nothing seemed too scary for him, and overall, it felt very family-friendly and a great way to kick off the Halloween season.

Parent Tips for Six Flags at Halloween
- Be sure to check the schedule when arriving at the park. Show times change regularly, so plan ahead—especially if there’s a particular show you want to catch. The Trick-or-Treat Trail, Hay Maze, and crafts are only available during select hours.
- Parking, slime making activities, and games cost extra so be prepared.
ProTip: Be sure to check your kids’ heights and the ride restrictions before going so there aren’t any surprises when it comes to what rides they can go on.

Oktoberfest at Discovery Kingdom
Need a break from all the Halloween festivities? Discovery Kingdom is also celebrating Oktoberfest through November 1. Adults can enjoy seasonal brews while the family can sample Bavarian pretzels and bratwurst, plays games, and listens to the Brasswerks Oktoberfest Band. My kid especially enjoyed a couple of rounds of Kegway Bowling.
