Spotlight on Fairyland’s Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration
Throughout May, Children’s Fairyland features traditions from the Asian and Pacific Islander diaspora ranging from folklore and dance to contemporary storytelling with performances, games, and crafts each weekend.
- May 3 & 4: Samoan fabric art and Gaga Dance Performance.
- May 10 & 11: Samoan fabric art, games from China and Taiwan, and Miss V of “Kids Go Mandarin.
- May 17 & 18: Japanese kite making, Oakland Taiko, games from China and Taiwan, dancers, and stories.
- May 24: Create Thai flower necklace garland, make mochi with Third Culture Bakery, and Halau Makana Polynesian Dancers.
- May 25: Create Thai flower necklace garland and Live Storyteller Oliver Chin.
- May 26: Book Celebration with Charlotte Cheng, author of Icy Fruit, and Live Storyteller Oliver Chin.
