Ticket Alert: Holidays at Filoli Gardens in Woodside

About 45-60 minutes from Berkeley is a lush garden waiting to be wandered in Woodside. Wintertime at Filoli is popular for families with kids of all ages; the Gardens come to life with lights, and the historic house is decorated from top to bottom each year. New this year is an enchanting woodland model train setup in the redwoods with a play area. Open daily from Nov. 22 to Jan. 11, 2026, with different ticketed experiences for day and evening.

Holiday Days at Filoli

From 10 am to 3:30 pm (last admission at 2 pm). Think redwood forest and fairytale charm. Experience Thistlewyck (rustic fairies and model trains) and Gilded (formal, decorated house and gardens) with no post-sunset nighttime illumination. This is an ideal visit for mixed generations with different appetites for holiday magic. Trains? Tinsel? Elf hats? Cocoa? Yes to all. To visit both the redwood play area and the decorated house with small children, you’ll want a stroller.

For additional fees, upgrade your outing to include a children’s passport ($25) or Holiday Tea ($185). Attending the holiday lights requires a separate admission ticket.

Holiday Evenings at Filoli

From 4 pm to 9 pm (last admission is 7:30 pm). If twinkling lights are the vibe, experience thousands of decorations and light installations inside the elegant old-timey house and outside in the fields and gardens, but skip the teeny trains or redwood play area. The light tunnel is always a treat, but there are also free and cheaper light displays closer to home. Attending daytime events requires a separate admission ticket.

Push your stroller through the beautiful winter garden or bring your little ones to see the thousands of sparkly lights and colorful decorations. Cozy up to a fire pit — if you can get your people to sit down — under twinkling lights and sip on hot cider or mulled wine.
