Similar to an indoor playspace where kids can run and climb and roll around, open gyms are an opportunity to take advantage of a gymnastics facility’s soft mats, foam pits, and tumbling floors. We love these places to get our kids’ ya-yas out before a good nap.

Open Gym Hours for Toddlers & Preschoolers
Park Gymnastics (Oakland)
Children ages 2 to 4 can explore the gym, discover new movements, and interact with the gymnastics equipment at their own pace (with caregivers).
Location: 4226 Park Boulevard, Oakland
Hours: Hop & Hang Tot Open Gym is Thursday 10:30 to 11:30 am

Kindergym (Oakland)
Children under 3 will love the setup at the Kindergym room at Temple Beth Abraham in Oakland with slides, climbers, and other play equipment. The program is 100% fun and has no religious affiliation.
Location: 327 MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland
Hours: Hours are generally 10 am on Sundays. The schedule is fairly irregular, so please check the Kindergym webpage.

Encore Gym (Walnut Creek)
Looking to plan ahead with your open gym activity? Look no further than Itty Bitty Buddy Blast at Encore Gym. It’s designed for children ages 1-4 with caregiver participation. Register in advance to reserve your spot in the a la carte sessions. Note: The gym also offers Open Gym, but that’s for older kids (ages 11+). Learn more >

iFlip Gymnastics (Richmond)
Sunday morning is open gym time at iFlip Gymnastics for kids ages 3 and up. It’s an ideal opportunity to practice new skills or explore new equipment in the supervised space.
Location: 2700 Rydin Rd, Unit G, Richmond
Hours: Two Sunday morning sessions: 10 – 10:50 am or 11 – 11:50 am
Cost: $25 single pass; $100 for a 5-pack.

Traverse Fit (Richmond)
Drop in to experiment with Traverse Fit’s obstacles on your own. Open to participants ages 6 and older. All abilities are welcome, though some areas are reserved for higher-level ninjas. First-timers are given a brief orientation.
