Party City open in Alameda’s South Shore Center

Last weekend, Party City, best known for their massive selection of party supplies and gigantic balloons, opened their enormous doors in Alameda.

My daughter loves South Shore Plaza in Alameda (see related post), and so we went to check it out.

The timing revealed Party City at its best: the merchandise is set for Halloween.

In addition to Halloween party and home decor (think oversized spiders for your front porch), there is an entire wall that displays their costumes, assigned to a numbered filing system so that a sales associate can retrieve the costume for you from the back.

Don’t need a head-to-toe store-bought costume? More aisles are dedicated to components for DIY costumes, from several different Bob Marley wigs to striped tights for bumble bees.

My favorite part is the color-coded section where customers can find accessories to complete their homemade costumes. Need red suspenders? No? Yellow suspenders? No? Yellow bowtie? Yes? You got it. Every color of the rainbow, plus a red, white, and blue section offers hats, face paint, knee socks, and wigs in those colors.

And of course, they stock everything you need for a party of any type, including both licensed character items and classic solid colors.

Party City is located in the South Shore Center and is open until 8.30 or 9 pm each night.
