Reindeer Ridge Christmas Tree Farm in Sebastopol

Julie and her family visited Reindeer Ridge a few years ago (hence the masks). The dates/times/prices/details have been updated to 2023 info.

For a traditional cut-your-own-Christmas-tree experience with all the trimmings (train and tractor rides, hot apple cider, farm animals, zip line, and more!), Reindeer Ridge Christmas Tree Farm in Sebastopol is a terrific option. I recently took my four kids (ages 4-11) on a chilly Saturday morning and everyone had a blast. Holiday magic is alive and well at this little farm!

Hike around the farm’s “mini forests” where there are various types of trees to choose from (Douglas Fir, White Fir, Grand Fir, Sequoia, Monterey Pine, Scotch Pine, Incense Cedar, and Leyland Cypress). They have plenty of sanitized and sharp saws as well as wagons to haul your tree. Pricing is made easy since they have handy price tags hung on all the trees that you’re allowed to cut (no tag, don’t cut it!). It took us about 30 minutes of meandering among the forests before settling on our perfect tree.

The kind folks at the farm will help you shake and wrap up your tree, as well as tie it on your car if you’d like. If you’re not able to find a tree to your liking in the forest, the pre-cut trees are pretty darn perfect as far as shape and size options.

Train & Tractor Rides, Farm Animals and more

Let’s be honest, cutting down a tree is only so much fun. Kids want a bit more holiday magic to make the hour-long drive worth it. Happily, Reindeer Ridge has what you need. Head on into the gift shop barn where you’ll find oodles of ornaments and decorations galore (pretty reasonably priced too).

They also have a well-stocked snack bar, with freshly popped popcorn and hot apple cider to warm everyone up. Buy tickets to the train ($3) when you pay for your tree and ornaments, or take a free ride on the tractor around the property. There are also friendly goats to visit and an epic 70 ft zipline for older kids (ages 5-12). Pack a lunch and enjoy the tables and play area, complete with swings, slides, and corn hole. Santa visits on the weekends!
