Come celebrate love, Black authors, and Black stories at this special children’s book fair. They will have free books, crafts, and special presentations from Bay Area Black authors.
The day’s festivities include:
- 1:00 – 3:00 PM – 4th floor, Central Children’s Room: Collage Workshop led by Oakland artist Chanel London of Hella Artsy. Participants will be invited to make collage portraits inspired by artist Derrick Adams.
- 1:00 – 4:00 PM – 4th floor, Central Children’s Room: Meet authors, publishers and booksellers
- 3:00 – 4:30 PM – 3rd floor, Community Meeting Room: Black History: To Boldly Go Author talk and Space Presentation. Author Angela Dalton will read her book To Boldly Go: How Nichelle Nichols and Star Trek Helped Advance Civil Rights, followed by a special space show presentation by Astro Everywhere, related to Nichelle Nichols’ character on Star Trek, Lieutenant Uhura, her job as Communications Officer and how we communicate in space. Afterwards, Sistah Sci-Fi will be selling copies of the book, To Boldly Go
