Join Market Hall Foods outside Rockridge Market Hall on Saturday, Sept. 28, from noon to 3pm, for a day of family-friendly festivities dedicated to Crucolo, an Italian cheese from the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
Market Hall Foods is one of two shops in the United States that sells this creamy cow’s milk cheese. To celebrate its arrival, Market Hall’s expert cheesemongers, dressed in Italian garb, roll a cart carrying the gigantic Crucolo wheel down Shafter Avenue to live accordion music, dancing and fanfare. The parade starts at noon promptly and ends with a ceremonial cheese cutting and plenty of samples to go around.
In addition to Crucolo, there will be plenty more Italian specialties to taste and take home, including Rustichella d’Abruzzo pasta, prosciutto, Italian wine, Torta della Nonna and more.
