What can you expect when you hire a doula?
Typically a pregnant person will meet with a doula to learn about their services and determine if the individual is a good fit. Then, you can expect up to six prenatal visits, which include lessons about evidence-based information, mindfulness, and hands-on coping techniques to use during labor for the birthing parent and a partner.
Your doula will manage her caseload so that by about 37 weeks, she can be on-call for you when your labor begins. She will accompany you during labor and birth, at home or any birth center or hospital. She will assist you in early breastfeeding and baby care tasks immediately after the birth. She can even be your photographer if you want to capture the experience.
