May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Forward Alameda along with the City of Alameda invite you to visit the 2025 Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Festival on Sunday May 18, 2025 from 11 AM to 5 PM at the parade grounds located across from City Hall West, 950 West Mall Square in Alameda.
Enjoy a cultural extravaganza showcasing the performing arts from Cambodia, China, Hawaii, several regions of India, Japan, New Zealand, Okinawa, Philippines, Tahiti, and Vietnam. Traditional and modern dance, Sitar/Tabla music, Vietnamese fashion show, and martial arts are a few of the scheduled performances. Seating is on the open grass field so sunscreen, a hat, and a blanket are advised.
Be sure to bring your appetite to enjoy the savory dishes of India, Japan and Hawaii.
Other cultural activities include a henna artist (temporary tattoo), Ikebana demonstration @ 1 PM, ongoing Origami activity for all ages, Filipino book sale, and antiques, clothing, and jewelry from India.
Plan on spending an afternoon of exploration of the many unique cultures that make up the east and southeast Asian community at the 2025 Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Festival.
