Lunar New Year Celebration at OMCA

Welcome in the Year of the Rabbit and explore the shared connections between the diverse Asian cultures of the Bay Area at OMCA.

This year’s family-friendly program celebrates and honors Lunar New Year traditions through storytelling, performances, activities, cooking demonstrations, and more. Festival access starts at 11am; food market opens at 11am; activities and performances start at 12pm.

  • 12 pm Lion Dance Opening Celebration
  • 12:30 pm Nanta Drum Play and Pan-Gut performance
  • 1 pm The Year of the Rabbit: Tales from the Chinese Zodiac Storytime
  • 2 pm Toddler storytime with Oakland Public Library
  • 12-4 pm Hands-on craft activities
  • 3:15 pm Street style dance performance and lesson
  • 3:45 pm Dragon Dance Closing Celebration

Please purchase tickets in advance. Capacity is limited. There are four types of tickets for the Lunar New Year Celebration. Children 12 and younger are free.
