Featured Collaborators:
Marcus Books was founded in 1960 and is the nation’s oldest Black-owned independent bookstore. A beloved cultural institution in Oakland, Marcus Books has long served as a hub for Black literature, learning, and liberation. From children’s picture books to critical texts on Black history, resistance, and imagination, the store celebrates and uplifts the richness of the African diaspora. We’re honored to partner with Marcus Books and have them vend at Storyland: Family Story Hour at Kinfolx to help young readers connect with powerful narratives that reflect who they are and who they can become.
Featured Host:
Kinfolx is located in the heart of downtown Oakland. It is so more than a coffee shop, it’s a vibrant gathering space rooted in community, culture, and connection. Founded with the vision of creating a safe and joyful environment for BIPOC and queer folks, Kinfolx has become a local beacon for creativity, conversation, and collective care. We’re thrilled to host Storyland in this beloved space where stories, families, and futures can flourish together.
