After-School Classes for Kids in Oakland, Berkeley and Beyond

An extension of the popular 3DMAKERCAMP summer program, students in grades 2–6 build real STEAM skills through 3D printing, laser cutting, and robotics. Located in Oakland on Wednesdays with transportation available, the program includes homework help, snacks, and creative, hands-on learning.

ACC is a fun, supportive & creative club for adoptees, 7-14 years, to explore their adoption story. Director, Mary Ellen Hill, MA, is an adoptee, teacher and a professional storyteller. 7xs, once a month on Sat., Oct. 2025- May 2026, 1 – 5p, $800, Scholarships, Location: Edwards Ave. & 580 in Oak.

ANTS Tennis offers an encouraging team environment for K-5th kids of all experience levels to explore tennis. Your child will learn the FUNdamentals of tennis through games, positive coaching and live-ball play. Oakland classes are Tuesdays after school at Montclair Park Courts. Also in SF.

Berkeley Ballet’s Youth Division offers classical ballet training for ages 6-18 in a professional, supportive environment. Dancers attend classes 2-5 days per week and perform in the annual Nutcracker Bird production and Spring Showcase.

Berkeley City Ballet is Berkeley's premier school for classical ballet. They offer Pre-Ballet classes for ages 2.5 and up, weekly Youth Ballet classes for ages 8 and up, and a Pre-Professional Program for ages 7 and up. Students perform annually in a full-length Nutcracker and Spring Concert.

Berkeley Playhouse offers fun-filled musical theater classes this fall. Students in grades K-6 will enjoy story-based classes inspired by Frozen and Mary Poppins, while students in grades 4-7 will hone their acting, dancing, and singing skills in our popular Triple Threat class.

Berkeley Rep youth and teen programming offers students in grades 1-12 the opportunity to learn from professional actors, develop storytelling tools, and most importantly: have fun making theatre! Classes run after school and on weekends.

Luna Dance & Creativity invites kids ages 3-17 to new light-filled, ADA-accessible, mirror-free studios for Creative Dance and Improvisation classes. Kids explore all the ways their bodies can move, learn to craft and share their own unique dances, and are celebrated as art makers.

Magnolia Music School offers after-school music classes for K–8 students, including group guitar, ukulele, and songwriting classes and youth choirs. Kids learn through an indie folk-pop lens in a warm, creative environment that nurtures confidence, musicality, and joyful collaboration.

Mr. D’s Music Club presents The Creative Spaces—a fun, engaging, and unique after-school performing arts program blending singing, acting, dancing, and art. Kids build confidence, expand creativity, and shine in a final performance. Trial Classes are available.

Oakland Cubs offers recreational and competitive running classes for ages 5.5 and up. Kids learn form and technique while running through Oakland parks and trails. Programs include fall cross country, spring track and field, and additional seasonal classes.
