Theater & Performing Arts Classes for Kids in the East Bay

Berkeley Playhouse offers fun-filled musical theater classes this fall. Students in grades K-6 will enjoy story-based classes inspired by The Jungle Book and The Addams Family, while students in grades 4-7 will hone their acting, dancing, and singing skills in the popular Triple Threat class.

Calling all young artists! After school and weekend classes at the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre are open to students in grades 1–12. From acting to improv and everything in between, join in and harness your creative voice.

Magnolia Music School offers after-school music classes for K–8 students, including group guitar, ukulele, and songwriting classes and youth choirs. Kids learn through an indie folk-pop lens in a warm, creative environment that nurtures confidence, musicality, and joyful collaboration.

Mr. D’s Music Club’s Creative Spaces is a fun, collaborative after-school performing arts program blending singing, acting, dancing, and art. Kids build confidence, expand their creativity, and work together to create a final performance. Trial classes are available.

PEBCC empowers young people ages 5–18 through exceptional choral music education, nurturing community, and joyful performance. From first music games to advanced ensembles and international tours, singers build musicianship, confidence, lifelong friendships, and the skills to connect and inspire.

BandWorks offers year-round workshops for kids and teens as well as intensive musical summer camps. Children form a band for the duration of their 8-week session, work with a mentor, learn together, and perform in a gig.

Crowden School offers a wider range of lesson, classes, and camps throughout the year to meet all ages, and all levels! If you have child who is an aspiring musician or advancing their musicality, their music faculty will provide expert guidance and instruction in a fun and supportive environment

Offering lessons in piano, drums, keyboard, guitar, vocals, dj skills, and bass.

Youth Choir serves children aged 6 to 15 years old with a superb musical education and the exhilarating experience of performing choral music and musical theater.

Dance (ballet, modern, hip hop) and circus arts are offered for kids in blocks of 8 or 9-week sessions, after school or on weekends. 18 months to 16 years.

Rhythm Kids is a music, movement, and drumming class designed to teach kids rhythm through singing, dancing, and playing songs and beats from around the world. Classes offered for kids ages 4-8.

SADC promotes creative and rigorous training in ballet, contemporary, hip hop, tap, and jazz in a welcoming community. Now offering K-pop & musical theater.

Join a robust after school arts program with some Oakland’s most incredible master arts facilitators. Classes include Dance, Drawing & Animation, Hip Hop Arts, Storytelling, Visual Arts & Puppet Theater.

Friendly, adaptable, and creative guitar, ukulele, and piano lessons in your home! The team of educated and experienced teachers have openings for students beginning or continuing their musical journeys through piano and guitar. Ages 5 and up.
