We’ve tapped into the {510} Families Facebook Community and a POC-owned restaurant list on Beautiful Brown Adventures to bring you the best outdoor seating options on the island from the slightly fancier to the run-around-nobody-cares. Feast al fresco at any of these kid-friendly eateries – did we miss your favorite outdoor dining spot in Alameda? Tell us in the comments.

Here are our top kid-friendly restaurants in Alameda with outdoor seating:

Alameda Al Fresco Dining Garden

This parking lot, located next to an abundance of restaurants, is now filled with picnic tables and equipped with a stage so that Sunday afternoons bring a festive outside eating vibe to Downtown Alameda. We got food from Calafia Taqueria (recommend!) and ate in their own patio, but it’s adjacent to the Al Fresco Dining Garden, so that’s an option, too.
Location: Webster Street & Taylor Avenue

Abigail’s Moroccan Cuisine, Ballena Bay

Delicious Moroccan food with an incredible view of the San Francisco Bay. Sit on their front patio to enjoy windswept views of boats and the San Francisco skyline as you enjoy your meal. Also, the place is BYOB (bring your own booze), so no corkage fees if you’re so inclined!
Location: 1132 Ballena Boulevard, Alameda

Alley & Vine, Downtown Alameda

For a fancy dinner or weekend brunch outing, check out Alley & Vine, located in an alleyway east of Park Street. The menu is constantly changing with the season, but always has a good vegetarian, fish, and red meat option. Great for a meal with the kids (or without!).
Location: 1332 Park Street, Suite D, Alameda

Burma Superstar, Alameda

One of my favorite local chains has a sturdy, heated parklet for outdoor seating with a barrier between you and the traffic. For kids who like plain rice (yum!) and for kids who will try new flavors, Burma Superstar is a delight.

East Ocean Seafood Restaurant

Lucky for us, this may be the only dim sum restaurant we know of with outdoor seating. Don’t skip the pineapple buns for dessert!

Julie’s Coffee n Tea Garden

Choose to sit in the parklet or the backyard garden oasis of one of our favorite cafes on the island.

Malaya Tea Room

Hands-down one of our favorite dining experiences on the island! Be sure to make a reservation for their morning or afternoon tea time, complete with your personal choice of tea, Malaysian-inspired sandwiches (the pork floss, sardines, and kaya butter are our faves), and sweets. The kids’ portion is smaller and comes with some extra cute fixins.

The Preacher’s Daughter, Downtown Alameda

Cafe, wine bar, bistro, you name it! This cute POC-woman-owned spot joined the Park Street scene in 2021 and it’s become a neighborhood establishment. Try their Mexican Mocha, guava bread, goat cheese crostini, and roasted mushroom flatbread. They provide a cute little coloring book and crayon set for the littles and host live music on select nights.

South Shore Center

Find a plethora of outdoor seating joints here. From something fancier like Trabocco Kitchen (pizza on the kids’ menu!) to tasty Korean Bowl’d BBQ, to something quick and fast like Five Guys or Panera Bread – all with patio seating. Be sure to stop by the playground or beach after to burn off all that extra energy.

Spinning Bones, Downtown Alameda

Featured on the Michelin Guide, their slow-cooked meats are cooked to perfection, served with mouth-watering Asian-fusion sides. Our kids love the mochiko fried chicken, while we usually order a Trip’s Tripple (¼ chicken, tri-tip, and pork shoulder) to share. Follow them on Instagram for their secret menu!

Spirit Alley Breweries, Alameda Point

Families at breweries is one of our favorite pairings, and with outdoor dining in the mix it’s an ultimate win in our book. In Alameda try Almanac Beer Co., Faction Brewing, or The Rake at Admiral Maltings for brews and bites with family-friendly vibes.

The Star on Park, Downtown Alameda

Our favorite deep dish in the Bay (and perhaps, ever?!). Their crispy cornmeal pizza crust takes the cake, especially when combined with their vegetarian “Little Star” featuring hearty tomato sauce, your choice of fresh or roasted whole garlic cloves, spinach, and ricotta.
