The San Francisco Zoo is getting in on the Halloween fun with its family favorite Boo at the Zoo. This year they’re featuring a smaller version of past years’ celebrations, but they’ll still have the popular costume contest and parade. Event dates are Saturday and Sunday, October 29-30. You’ll have to make advance reservations though, which are available now.
Pro Tip: Get your tickets early as this is a popular event and space is limited!
What is San Francisco Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo?
While there won’t be trick-or-treating around the zoo like in past years, there will still be Halloween decorations, music and the popular costume contest and parade. Throughout the Zoo you’ll also find fun Day of the Dead haunted houses and other fun decorations. You can also visit the Picnic Pavilion near Puente al Sur to enjoy a beer garden and delicious German fare, plus live music. The star of the show though is the costume parade and contest.
At noon on each event day, your family can join in on a fun costume parade and contest with prizes awarded for the top three in these categories: Best Costume, Best Family Costume and Best Animal Costume. The parade and contest take place by Lion Fountain next to Penguin Island. Line up early or grab a spot on a bench near the penguins to watch the parade go by. So many cute animal costumes!
