AAPI Heritage Month with Chinatown Records - 510 Families

AAPI Heritage Month with Chinatown Records

NOTE: This date/event is in progress right now.

In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, join for this special program featuring Chinatown Records 華埠錄音, a community-driven collective and archive rooted in Manhattan’s Chinatown, New York City.

Founded in 2018 by DJ historian yiuyiu 瑶瑶 and her family, Chinatown Records preserves and celebrates the music, memories, and histories found within more than 35 record, CD, and tape collections gathered from the neighborhood and beyond. This ever-growing archive reflects the cultural vibrancy and lived experiences of Chinatown communities.

Now bringing the music coast to coast, Bay Area–raised yiuyiu shares selections from the archive through live DJ sets and storytelling. Known for spinning back-to-back with longtime, emerging, and first-time DJs, she creates an inclusive space where community members of all ages can connect through music.

As a community-taught and community-powered DJ historian, yiuyiu is passionate about mentoring the next generation—inviting participants to engage, learn, and help bring these sounds and stories to life.

Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month through music, history, and community connection.
