Art-loving kiddos will enjoy a visit to de Young Museum for its annual de Youngers Day Out on Saturday, May 4 from 10 am to 4 pm. This free community event is filled with hands-on art-making, performances, and other workshops that help expose children to a variety of arts.
What to Expect at de Youngsters Day Out
Kids have an opportunity to explore nearly every corner of the museum and interact with art through hands-on creation. Art-making stations are located throughout the museum and outside on the grounds to spark curiosity and support your little one’s creativity. Here’s a sneak peek at this year’s activities:
- Visit SF Public Library’s library-on-wheels and take advantage of book giveaways
- Teaching artist, Timothy B will lead a museum takeover of art activities
- Pocket Sculpture and ART Alive
- In-gallery sketching
- Free giveaways and games
- Zenni Optical will also be conducting onsite vision screenings for children between 2-14, distributing free samples of some of their latest eyewear collections and innovations, and promoting the importance of eye health for everyone, especially children
There’s a fun and lively energy in the museum. No shhh-ing or feeling like your child isn’t welcome in a gallery.
