Banjar is the Balinese word to describe a ‘neighborhood’, defined as a local community group that acts as a village council and aims to take care of the cultural and religious values of the village community. The Banjar is Gamelan Sekar Jaya’s home in Berkeley, California. It is the home for Balinese Guest Artists, rehearsal space for all their music and dance ensembles, and a community center.
