Hosted by the El Cerrito Preschool Cooperative (ECPC), Messy Art Day is a free annual event that celebrates creativity and community through hands-on, process-driven art experiences.
With over 20 years of history, Messy Art Day has grown from a small preschool gathering into a cherished Bay Area tradition, drawing over 1,000 attendees each year. The event is entirely put together by our dedicated parents and volunteers, who work tirelessly to bring the magic of messy, creative play to life.
They are back again this year for an even MESSIER fun day for the family! True to ECPC’s play-based philosophy, the event encourages children and families to explore, create, and connect in an environment where imagination knows no bounds. Every activity is designed to celebrate the joy of the process, emphasizing exploration over perfection and fostering a love of creative play. Attendees can look forward to a day filled with laughter, learning, and community spirit as they participate in a variety of art activities designed to ignite curiosity and creativity.
This event is open to all children ages 2-5 and their caregivers with advanced reservations. Activities on Ashbury Avenue are designed for all ages (registration not required).
