Sunday Sunshine Series with Asheba!
Asheba is a musical storyteller who specializes in calypso, the musical and folkloric oral tradition of Trinidad, his homeland. Stories of hope and happiness are the focus of his songs, which range from original lullabies to fast tempo tunes to remakes of classics such as Itsy Bitsy Spider, Five Little Monkeys, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and You Are My Sunshine.
Because his music is for all ages, abilities and backgrounds, you’ll find children and parents alike joyfully singing, clapping and dancing along to it. Asheba’s songs are currently available on four CDs: “Go Itsy,” “No More Monkeys,” and “Children are the sunshine.” His last release is titled “In The Kid Zone.
Asheba also formerly directed an award-winning division of international children’s music known as ‘Putumayo Kids’ in collaboration with world music record label Putumayo. We are excited to welcome him back to Ashkenaz for the debut of our monthly Sunday Sunshine Series.
