Included in your visit to Fairyland is a new featured chef experience on some very special Saturdays. Not only will children delight in the usual rides, animals, and make-believe at the magical storybook park, but they will also learn important kitchen lessons while having a blast with a well-known Oakland chef.
Aesop’s Playhouse at Fairyland will become Oakland’s Magic Kitchen on these upcoming dates:
- June 15: Chef Dirk Tolsma of ACRE Kitchen and Bar
- July 27: Chef Juan Hormiga of Parche
- September 14: Chef Intu-on Kornnawong of Joe’s Modern Thai
- October 26: Chef Michele McQueen of Town Fare
Each chef will visit Children’s Fairyland and demonstrate a recipe that kids and their adults can do together (some can be modified to be cooked independently!). They’ll be joined by Quercus, Fairyland’s furry mascot to spark children’s eagerness to help in the kitchen while sharing food facts and culinary basics.

When the demonstration is done, all guests will have the chance to taste and take home the recipe!
