Oakland still has a pro team to root for! The Oakland Roots Soccer Club is a young professional soccer team based right here in the {510} with an enthusiastic and growing fanbase. The Roots will play their home games at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in 2026, and the home opener is on March 14, followed by a fireworks show!

For families looking to experience pro sports with heart, energy, and community, Roots games definitely deliver. We have become regulars who root root root for the Roots.
What to Expect at an Oakland Roots Game at the Coliseum
The Roots organization has done a phenomenal job building community partnerships and creating a welcoming game-day experience. If last season’s games are any indication, fans can expect plenty of family-friendly fun as they arrive at the Coliseum. With lots of space to walk around and only the lower bowl seating open, the experience feels relaxed, even with younger kids in tow.

One of our favorite parts is watching the rituals of the team’s most dedicated fans, known in soccer as “supporters.” The drums, handmade signs, “Let’s Go Oakland” chants, and diverse crowd give us major A’s-game nostalgia (RIP).
Plan your Oakland Roots Game Day
The 2026 season runs from March through October, with 17 home games before the postseason. The March 14 home opener will be followed by a fireworks show, definitely one to circle on the calendar!
Oakland Roots Home Games and Themes for 2026

Tickets: Prices start at $23. Purchase them on SeatGeek >
Parking: Parking is contracted by the Coliseum, not the Roots organization. If using the lot, expect to spend $40 per vehicle. BART is a convenient (and budget-friendlier) option.
Intensity: There are two Supporter sections, designed for the most dedicated fans: “The Garden”, which is more family-friendly, and “The Deep Roots”, which is more intense with louder cheering and more alcohol consumption. Supporter section tickets start at $21 when purchased in advance. If you sit there, be sure to wear your Roots gear!!
Pro tip: If you come with a group and want to make this extra memorable, you can tailgate in the parking lot (we even saw a child celebrate their birthday with friends in the parking lot).
