At Fairyland, by honoring the ingenuity, contributions, triumphs and culture of Oakland’s African-American community over the last 100+ years with an interactive retrospective, arts & crafts, AND stellar authors, artists, and performers all month long! Grab your map and take a curated walking tour through a visual display highlighting important people, places, and movements with Oakland roots and global impact. Become familiar with compelling figures and facts you never knew you never knew! Get your kiddos in the conversation at the Community Reflection Wall. From the Black Panther Party to the Black Panther films, and so much more in between, this interactive educational experience is for the entire family!
The Emerald City Stage will come alive at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. with Storyteller Brother Ben an author, storyteller, singer, actor, and podcaster. His stories focus on historical figures, personal stories, legends, folk, and fairy tales.
