Dance, Dance, Dance
Join the Newark Library for a fun family dance party to celebrate Juneteenth and Pride. Coloring and craft supplies will also be available for self-serve creativity and enjoyment.
Juneteenth, observed on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved Black people in Texas were informed that they were free. The very first Juneteenth freedom celebrations took place in Texas. In 2021, Juneteenth became a federal holiday.
June is Pride month, commemorating the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion of 1969 and honoring the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.
Honoring both Juneteenth and Pride, remember historical and contemporary struggles, and celebrate community resilience and joy.
Who Should Come? Everyone. All ages are welcome to enjoy.
