Milo and I were guests of Crown and Crumpet to try out their holiday tea service at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel this past weekend.
Though I struggled to get him my eight-year old to “dress up” out of his usual sporty attire, once Milo and I were in our seats at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel mezzanine, it was all twinkling magic and good manners!
If you’re not familiar with the high tea service, it is a set menu of little sandwiches, scones with cream, tiny desserts, and a choice of tea. To make the tea service more festive and elegant, I was also offered champagne. To make the event more kid-friendly, Milo was offered a holiday craft and hot cocoa in lieu of tea. Finally, to make the meal more Christmasy, we each got some Christmas Crackers, and sat near a gorgeous, enormous, decorated tree.
And what’s not to love about a meal composed nearly entirely of sweets while making a little craft project and having your mom’s undivided attention? Pure magic! Many of the other guests had younger children with them. I wish my photos captured the adorable toddlers in their sparkling Christmas dresses. Hecka cute!
For a total splurge, check out the tea parties happening throughout December, or mark your calendar to start a new family tradition next year. Crown & Crumpet’s “Tea Under The Tree” service at the Sir Francis Drake features both classic and limited edition teas from Crown and Crumpet with a selection of tea sandwiches, crumpets, scones, macarons and more. Service includes a glass of sparkling wine for adults and sparkling cider for kids as well as a craft for the kids (felt ornament kit)! Reservations are strongly encouraged.

I was compensated for this report in champagne and sweets. All opinions are mine and Milo’s.

Together, we made a felt ornament garland with a little kit. We also played games, wore crowns, and told jokes from the Christmas cracker. He thanked me more for our Saturday special date at the high tea than I can remember for weeks previous.
