North Berkeley has a fantastic children’s bookstore near the intersection of Rose and MLK, near Fatapple’s, but if you’re not paying attention, you could miss it: Mr. Mopps Children’s Books!
The store is long and narrow with a cozy reading chair in the back and some seating in the middle.
I was impressed by the delightfully large selection of board books along with the many shelves of other books for young readers.
During my visit, I was on a mission. I wanted to find books for my first grader and was given lots of personalized attention by the staff-person. She helped me determine the appropriate levels in a few different book series as well as some graphic novels that might also fit the bill.
I left with two hard cover books, many good ideas, and the desire to return with my first grader so he could see what floats his own boat.
