Known locally as EBI, private school Escuela Bilingüe Internacional is our sponsor today.
For East Bay Families seeking a school that will build their child’s confidence, cognitive flexibility, and cultural fluency, Escuela Bilingüe Internacional (EBI) is a PK-8 Bilingual IB program designed to prepare students to thrive in a changing world.

At all grade levels, the students engage in hands-on experiences that promote social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth, all within a safe and nurturing setting. The small school size ensures that every student is well-known and supported by their teachers.
Bilingualism at EBI
Students learn in both Spanish and English every day. EBI is the only school on the West Coast offering both the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) fully in Spanish and English. The IB curriculum develops globally minded students with strong character, empathy, and the skills to succeed in an interconnected world.
EBI serves students from PK through Grade 8 across two East Bay campuses. The Alcatraz campus hosts PK through Grade 1, while the Emeryville campus is home to Grades 2 through 8.
What if my student doesn’t have any Spanish yet?
Through their Accelerated Spanish Program (ASP), students in Grades 1–8 can join EBI without prior Spanish experience and quickly gain proficiency. This innovative program makes bilingualism accessible to more families while ensuring the same rigorous and joyful IB experience that defines EBI.

What parents say
My son has been a student at EBI for 11 years, since he was 3 1/2 years old. He has developed confidence, critical thinking skills, and the ability to be self-reflective. He is able to think about who he is, how he shows up in spaces, and what he brings, or takes from his community. I am grateful to EBI for teaching my son how to think critically and creatively, and to have the confidence to fully be himself.
