Pedalfest at Jack London Square — Oakland’s free celebration of bikes, family, fun, and food — is back on August 3, 2019 from 11am to 6pm.
In collaboration with Bike East Bay, enjoy daredevil stunts, pedal-powered food, a cycle-powered music, a kid’s bike rodeo, safety training, and an amazing collection of bicycles from vintage and hand-built bikes to creative art bikes (and more).

BIKE DECORATING & PARADE
Oaklandish Bicycle Parade 12:30 am. Kick-off 2018 Pedalfest with Oaklandish’s kids bicycle parade. Children are invited to show up with already-decorated bicycles, or they can deck-out their bikes at a special Oaklandish decorating station, at 11 AM. The parade will roll through Jack London Square at 12:30 PM.
RODEO
Kid’s Rodeo Time. A team of youth cycling instructors will lead a fun-filled bicycle rodeo for children throughout the day including a bike safety course, skills building lessons and bicycle safety instructions. Bikes and helmets will be provided to participating children, grades 3-6.
ART
Pedal-powered spin art for kids (mine loved it)
FOOD
In the past, I’ve heard that Pedalfest was terrific but there was not enough food and not enough bathrooms, so be prepared. I’d pack plenty of snacks (and seek restrooms before it was urgent). The organizers assured me we could expect “an assortment of food from vegan to tacos.”
This fun-filled celebration is meant to be for everybody showcasing what makes bike riding such an amazing activity for individuals, groups and families.
There is free valet bike parking and free ferry rides for those arriving in Oakland by bike.
