Ask any parent who has watched their kid struggle with reading and writing, and they will tell you that that one sentence is everything. It came from a Prospect Sierra family a few weeks into the school year, and it is exactly the kind of moment The Learning Center (TLC) was built for. TLC is the school’s new program for kids with language-based learning differences, and it opened its doors this August.

Students first, support second

TLC is designed for students with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia or dysgraphia—children who benefit from small-group instruction and individualized support. In its first year, eight students in 5th grade and eight in 6th grade will join the program. Over time, Prospect Sierra plans to expand TLC to serve students in grades 3–8, thoughtfully remaining a small, integrated program that enhances the school’s mission while ensuring continued support as learners grow and gain confidence.

Picture a small table, a few kids, and a teacher who has time for every one of them. That is a TLC learning pod. It is where students with language-based learning differences get instruction built around exactly how they learn.

But a learning pod is only part of the day. These kids are Prospect Sierra students first. They paint, act, run, and head outdoors in every specialist class right beside their classmates, then step into their TLC classroom for the focused support that helps the rest of school click. The program is small on purpose, with room to grow for grades 3 to 8 over time. A few spots are still open in 5th and 6th grade for this 2026-27 school year.

TLC applications for the 2026-27 school year are available now for grades 5 and 6. Applications for the 2027-28 school year open right after the September 24 Information Session.

Prospect Sierra is for every family

You do not need The Learning Center to belong here. Prospect Sierra welcomes applications in every grade, TK to 8, and hosts more information sessions and tours for the whole school starting in October, open to every family exploring TLC or the larger program. Whether your child needs a little extra support or is simply looking for a joyful place to grow, there is a place for them here.
