My experience at the Lawrence Hall of Science is that there are nooks and crannies of the building that one might miss in her first few visits. If you haven’t spent much time on the downstairs level of the building, then you may not be aware of the Animal Discovery Room.
Open from 1:30 to 4 pm on weekends and school holidays, the Animal Discovery Room is an invitation to get to know reptiles, amphibians and small mammals a little better. A staff member is on hand to engage kids with whichever creatures are the focus that day. Did you know that a tarantula feels soft, like a kitten?
This video gives you a view into the Animal Discovery Room, found downstairs in Room 141 at the Lawrence Hall of Science, where you might meet snakes, mice, rabbits, or even a flying squirrel!
Summer Hours: The Animal Discovery Room will be open daily, June 13-August 30 for summer hours.
The Lawrence Hall of Science is located in the Berkeley Hills at One Centennial Drive above the main UC Berkeley campus.
