At three different “Petting Circle” time slots each day, children can hold bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, or rats at the Lindsay Wildlife Experience in Walnut Creek. Tired of library circle times? Maybe an animal circle time is worth the drive. (Parking is easy and free!)
At this rescue facility for regional wildlife, animal keepers are circulating throughout the day, sharing their caretaking responsibilities with visiting children. You may be able to hold a snake or a bird on your arm.
In addition to the visiting animals who are sick or unable to live in their natural habitat, there are permanent interactive exhibitions to explore.
Note that some, er, stuffed animals are on display, so be ready to talk about taxidermy with your child!
Weekend hours are 10 am to 5 pm (Saturday and Sunday). Week day hours are noon to 5 pm. The Museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Pack your wheels! Located next to a Larkey Park, a picnic lunch and a scooter ride would make a good add on activity.
