Larkey Spray Ground in Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek's Larkey Spray Ground is the perfect place to spend a sunny day in the Bay. The splash playground shares a space with the Larkey Pool, but is sectioned off in its own gated area with a lifeguard on duty. Plenty for the five and under set – climb to the top of the water slide, shoot a water gun on those below, tug on strings to get wet, or jump over water shooting up from the ground.

The playground is set in a circle, with benches along the perimeter – plus three tables with umbrellas – which fill up fast. I liked that it was small and could see my boys from anywhere I sat. We showed up right as it opened – 10 am – and I didn't feel like it was too crowded, but can see how it may get crazy. Show up early!

  1. It is VERY difficult to find the “simplest” information on your system. How about adding Splash, or rather Spray Ground information. Still not open until June 19th? Thought this was just for Ladt Year. Still 10-12 Mon-Thurs & 4:30 to 6:30 M/T/Th/F? Cost?

  2. We went here yesterday (Saturday), which was a perfect day since it was so hot. My 4-year-old twins and their friend had a blast! The adults even liked getting sprayed too! Just a note that the info on the website is a little confusing – for weekends, you have to pay full admission to the pool (not just $2) and the sprayground opens at noon.

  3. Hello, I just wanted to let you know that some of the information you have posted is incorrect. Just to clarify:
-the spray ground is not open on Friday evenings.
-Friday hours are 1-5 (entire facility open).
-weekday rec swim is available 6/11 – 8/17.
-weekend rec swim is available 6/9 – 9/3.
-spray ground only hours are available through 8/16.
-youth 7-17 years old are $4.50.
    Thank you!

  4. Please clarify as the info on site is confusing. Will the splash/spray ground be open on Sat Aug 17 and Sun Aug 18?
What are the hours and fees?
    Thanks!
