Walnut Creek’s Larkey Spray Ground is the perfect place to spend a sunny day in the Bay. The splash playground shares a space with the Larkey Pool but is sectioned off in its own gated area with a lifeguard on duty.
This splash park offers plenty to do for the five and under set: climb to the top of the water slide; shoot a water gun on those below; tug on strings to get wet; or jump over water shooting up from the ground.
The playground is set in a circle, with benches along the perimeter – plus three tables with umbrellas – which fill up fast. I liked that it was small and could see my boys from anywhere I sat. We showed up right as it opened – 10 am – and I didn’t feel like it was too crowded, but can see how it may get crazy. Show up early!
